About Anabella Funk

Anabella Funk is an award-winning documentary director and producer based in Austin, Texas. Her debut feature, Price of Paradise, follows a woman who discovers at 55 that she was born on Kalaupapa and taken from her mother at birth, and the little-known chapter of Hawaiian history behind their separation.

Distributed nationally by American Public Television with Austin PBS as the presenting station, the film has aired 1,160 times on 227 public television channels. It won Best Director and Best Documentary at the Athens International Film Festival, was nominated for the Made in Hawaiʻi Award at the Oscar-qualifying Hawaiʻi International Film Festival, and was the first recipient of the Austin PBS Finishing Funds Grant.

Her scripted short Apartment 308 won Best Director at the New York International Film Awards. She serves on the board of Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Austin.
